Meal Plans

When can I start using my Dining Plan?

Fall dining plans go into effect on Sunday (dinner) prior to the 1st of the semester and end with lunch on the Friday of exam week. Spring dining plans go into effect on Sunday (dinner) prior to the start of the semester and end with lunch on the Friday of exam week.

Can I use my Dining Plan during academic breaks?

Dining Plans are not available during breaks, Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring.  Please contact Dining Services to discuss special accommodations if staying on campus.

When are meal periods?

Breakfast: 7 am - 10:45 am

Lunch: 11 am - 3:45 pm

Dinner: 4 pm - 9 pm

Late Night: 9 pm - 12 am

What if I want to change my Dining Plan?

Dining plans may only be changed during the first 4 weeks of the semester.  After the fourth week of the semester, you may ONLY upgrade your plan.  The Zip Card Office must receive full payment for the upgrade before the plan will be changed. You are permitted two dining plan changes before the eighth week of a semester dining plan changes are processed on a weekly basis and must be received before noon on Friday. Requests to cancel or change the dining plans after cut-off dates will not be granted.    

The online dining plan change form can be found by logging into your “My Akron” account and, clicking on the Dining Plan change icon, then complete the information on the form for your change / cancel request.

Can I cancel my Dining Plan?

If you are in the Residence Halls, you may NOT cancel your dining plan. The only way your dining plan may be canceled is if you move out of housing.
If you move out of housing and wish to cancel your dining plan, you may go into My Akron, click the Dining Services change / cancel icon to complete the form.
All cancellation requests must be received prior to the 8th week of the semester.

Can I get a refund?

After the 7th week of the semester, all dining plans are final and non-refundable.

What is a Block Meal Plan?

Block meal plans offer a set number of meals that can be used during the semester.  You may use your block meals at Rob’s Café, Trackside Grille, Union Market, POD Markets and other participating locations.  1 Block meal may be used during each meal period.


Where can I use my Block Meals?

You may use your block meals at Rob’s Café, Union Market, Trackside Grille, Climbing Rock Café, Freshens and all on campus convenience stores.
